2010 AMA/ATVA MX Championship, Rd#1, Millcreek MX Park

The opening round of the 2010 AMA/ATVA MX Championship held at Millcreek MX Park March 27-28. Although the weekend started off very rainy and muddy the track turned out great.

The first race is always exciting. The kids are showing off their new gear, Dads are talking about what they have and haven’t done, and the Mom’s are making sure everything is ready. We have 6 months off to get everything ready, but it seems like there is always something that has to be done at the last minute. But in the end it all works out.

It is amazing to watch these kids now and think how far they have come since Loretta Lynn’s. The talent and determination that these kids have is unreal.  Congratulations to all the racers and their family. You all did an excellent job.

Just to let everyone know:

WE are still going to be doing Cobra. I had thought about giving it up. But I think we will stay in it for while longer. It is hard to give something up that you truly believe in.

I know there has been rumors flying around since April. I have heard everything under the sun and then some. I have tried to let it go, but I got an email this morning asking me about this and some other stuff. SO I think it is time for the people who started these (you know who you are) to stop. The people who did hear it please set the record straight if someone ask you about it. Along with all the other rumors that you have heard.

If you want the truth ask the person that is involved, and you will get it. Everything else is a rumor.

Thanks

ATV Young Guns Race Report

Jacob French - Mission Accomplished

From a small town in Minnesota, comes a kid with a huge desire and relentless determination to win a National Championship.  His name is Jacob French, also known as “Jake” and this is his story.

Jake’s goal to win the 2009 ATVA 70cc Modified class started out late in 2008.  He knew he needed to get his endurance and riding abilities in check before the first National race in Pell City.  Starting around Thanksgiving weekend with the help from Matt Shapaka and Tittle Brothers Racing, he practiced his quad and pushed himself till his blistered hands bled.  Jake also committed himself to running indoor practices throughout the winter months.  In the first three rounds sporting a positive attitude, he raced with commanding confidence.  Mechanical issues and a mishap showed Jake he indeed had a tough schedule ahead of him, but his determination to prevail was stronger than ever.  After his first overall win at Sunset Ridge, he would not look back.  He raced at Steel City, Unadilla, Muddy Creek, and Pleasure Valley, winning all 4 rounds.

Jake headed to Red Bud with one thing on his mind.  That was to win the 2009 ATVA National 70 Modified class.  The weather was good, and the track was in great shape.  He knew he had to ride flawless to win the championship.  Jake went 1 and 1 to take the overall win and to lock himself into the points lead and the series win.  Sitting back in the pits after the Mission was accomplished felt good.  The pressure was off and the atmosphere was relaxed.  All of Jake’s hard work paid off to come out on top and wear the crown of the fastest 70cc rider on the planet.

Missions and Goals are hard to achieve without support from others.  Whether it’s the parts on your quad, the gear that you wear, or the way your friends keep it light at the starting gate, you have to have it.  I would like to thank the list of people that have provided this for Jake.  Special thanks to Motowoz, Trackside Performance, Spider Grips, Blingstar, Spy, Maxxis, Hiper, Maier, Engine Ice, Nac’s Racing, J&J Racing, Tittle Brothers Racing, The FTSWP Group, Davey Boy Motorsports, and Shawn Titus and Family for the permanent smiles.

Cody and Cole along with Jake and Josh French, Ty and Mckenna Peters, and Shae Honeywheel spent 3 weeks in Maryland with Shawn, Angel and Hunter Titus along with Kevin French. They all had a great time, they went jet skiing, went to the beach, etc.. I was told of of some funny things that the kids did while they were there. BUT, no one ever mentioned that they were about to be frisked by the Maryland Police.

When we were that age, the vacation was just to be out of school......

//April 20, 2009//  We wish Logan a quick recovery.  The following is an update from Logan's dad, Davy Howard.

"About two hours after we arrived in Va., Logan was thrown out of a Rhino and broke the bone in his upper right arm and bent the two bones in his lower right arm. He is having surgery today to reset the broken bone and straighten the two lower bones. The doctor says the outcome will be good but his racing season is over. I guess it will be me and Bay the rest of the season. I will let you know how he is doing after the surgery. He has been doing fine the last couple of days, he has been on some good pain meds."
